DANCING SISTERS
architectural symbols in the public areas of Ukrainian cities
Kyiv, Ukraine

The "DANCING SISTERS/ ТАНЦЮЮЧІ СЕСТРИ" project located in the public area of Kiev is an initiative of the ARCA Foundation creating the image of the Republic of Poland as a stable state and modern through an architectural symbol permanently inscribed in the fabric of the Ukrainian capital.
On a symbolic level, the project represents the solidarity of two countries, inextricably linked. Through the use of a modern technological solution, derived from the modern understanding of climate protection and obtaining renewable energy sources, a completely new dimension of this symbiosis was highlighted, based on universal values and in Ukraine's European aspirations.
In the aesthetic spectrum, the basic element are the soft curves of the Polish and Ukrainian flags, swirling around each other thanks to the breeze.
The project not only has beautiful shapes and intriguing symbolism, but also has practical advantages - it is a source of energy from both wind and sun, thanks to the photovoltaic cells used, which can be used to illuminate the installation at night. The energy self-sufficiency system allows the installation to be started even at very light or zero wind.

House of the Polish Community
Aktau, Kazakhstan

The role of the city of Aktau and the Caspian Sea has increased dramatically due to changes in global logistics chains, especially as a result of the war in Ukraine. The city is described as the "maritime gateway of Kazakhstan". It can be expected that a large group of representatives of Polish business will appear there soon. Today, the local Polish Community cannot afford to cover the costs of finishing the rooms in which they could stay meet. In 2009, a building plot was purchased. To this day, a house has been built, which is a special place for Poles. Our project is a response to the situation of the Polish community on the ground. Thanks to the creation of the place, it will be possible to organize meetings for the Polish Community. The rooms and part of the area in front of the house will be a place for integration of Poles and people of Polish origin, a place to cultivate traditions and pass on Polish culture to young people and children.

migration crisis?
school in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire

Responding to the increasingly serious civilizational challenges that the world and Europe are struggling with, the ARCA Foundation has prepared and presented a school project for students in Abidjan.
We hope that initiatives of this type will enable sustainable development,
among others, of the Côte d'Ivoire, so that the extraordinary continent of Africa becomes a friendly and safe place to live for its inhabitants.

We want to help in important issues, in a way that solves problems at their source. We invite you to support this much-needed investment.
The building is designed for 50 students, although there are needs on site many times greater. Unfortunately, the lack of sufficient funds limits this
investment opportunities.

Design envisages the construction of a school consisting of 5 lecture halls and a room professors' room, cafeteria and sanitary and technical facilities.
Surface
net of the building – approx. 400.0 m2

peace initiatives in Israel

The ARCA Foundation supports the construction of a meeting place in Magdala on Lake Tiberias. We want enable visitors to visit an extremely important symbol of Christian archaeology.
There are ruins of a Byzantine monastery in Magdala. It is assumed that in the place where the Byzantine building is located, the house of Mary Magdalene must have stood there. There are preserved testimonies of pilgrims from the 5th to 13th centuries who report that they stayed in Magdala, the city of Mary Magdalene, and prayed in a church built on the ruins of her house.

July 2023
Architecture of Challenges - Reconstruction of Ukraine conference

Last week, we took part in an inspiring review of initiatives and projects supporting the reconstruction of Ukraine during the Architecture of Challenges - Reconstruction of Ukraine conference in Łazienki Królewskie, organized by the Faculty of Architecture of WUT.
The ARCA Foundation presented a program to strengthen the potential of the Polish R&D sector in the reconstruction process of Ukraine, so that the space and facilities created in the first period would be durable and at the same time generate a development impulse for subsequent stages of reconstruction and the greatest possible participation of Polish companies.
In addition, we presented an original design of energy-self-sufficient buildings composed of modular panels, made using combined CLT and membrane technology, in order to maximize investment efficiency and reduce transport costs from Poland to Ukraine.
Many thanks for the support of
the Foundation Council: prof. Anna Wierzbicka and attorney Łukasz Caban
and the President of the Foundation, Małgorzata Lipska.

November 2022
folding windows for Ukraine

After the invasion began in February 2022, like everyone else, we accepted refugees and sent humanitarian aid.
After the liberation of the occupied territories, we received a lot of information about the destruction caused by the barbaric actions of Russian troops, first from the area of Irpień, Bucha, Makarov, and after the Ukrainian offensive in the east from the area of Izium and Balakliy. However, at the end of last summer, along with massive attacks on energy infrastructure, it turned out that the approaching winter could be a very serious blow to the civilian population there. Having access to modern technologies, we decided to help injured families who, due to the actions of criminals in Ukraine, had no place to live and shelter during the winter. Many houses and apartments were completely destroyed and could only be demolished. However, there were definitely more houses that were partially damaged and became habitable after minor repairs.
We had to act quickly before winter arrived. Hence the idea of organizing a fundraiser for the purchase and transport of kits for installing temporary windows with a double transparent membrane. Even a not very skilled construction team can install a window to any required size within an hour at most!
